The Office of Field Operations (OFO) is the largest component of CBP and is responsible for facilitating lawful trade and travel at U.S. ports of entry.

The Border Patrol's traditional mission is to detect, interdict, and apprehend individuals who attempt to illegally enter or smuggle people or contraband across U.S. borders between official ports of entry.
